NatCon Day 2: In their own words
Hypocritical attacks on misinformation research and the end of same sex marriage
A brief look at some of the speeches at NatCon Day 2.
Mike Benz, Executive Director for the Foundation for Free Speech Online, referring to fact checking misinformation as the “science of censorship”, he brags that there is a ban on misinformation research, thus showing that he's content to see the stifling of opposing voices.
Jay Bhattacharya, head of NIH, coauthor of the Great Barrington Declaration and former member of various groups such as Pandata and Collateral Global uses his time on page to continue to make out that he was the true victim of the pandemic. Hudson and Engler who run Pandata now claim there wasn’t a pandemic.
Bhattacharya was interviewed constantly across the media and even had a private meeting with Trump in the White House.
It's worth noting that Bhattacharya has been a friend of tech bro Peter Thiel since they were college buddies st Stanford. Bhattacharya has also had the support of Musk, and at NatCon referenced the so called Twittet files.
Its worth noting Bhattacharya's fellow covid contrary Vinay Prasad at the FDA recently had the YouTube account of one of his critics Jonathan Howard taken down. The account only had a small number of subscribers but was critical of Prasad by simply reminding viewers of Prasad’s previous statements.
Regarding the “science of censorship” perhaps Bhattacharya should consider the actions of RFK Jr at HHS or the actions of Jim Jordan's Congress committee's efforts to stifle misinformation research through lawfare.
Followers of NatCon are comparing NatCon, Trump and MAGA to Lincoln.
Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, uses her speech to accuse the Obama administration of fabricating evidence of Russian interference to usurp the American people.
There is of course the issue of Paul Manafort, and Jan 6.
Next up Karty Faust.
For those who aren’t aware, Obergefell is regarding the right of same sex partners to marry. Faust wants to remove this right, she also opposes IVF, surrogacy and doesnt agree with divorce.
Her speech is focused on the evils of gay marriage and surrogacy. This is part of a whole session on overturning gay marriage, they’ve already managed to do this with Roe Vs Wade, this is the next target.
There is a regular conflation between gay people and child abuse.
Gay marriage apparently means that the state can take away your children.
This isn’t just rhetoric, its a policy target.
Jeff Shafer continues with accusing gay marriage of “Gender neutralization”.
The session ends with whats probably the closest we’ll get to a funny joke at NatCon.
